It’s hard to find time to get much drawing done in the summer. The kids are home all day, there are countless family get-togethers that must be attended, there’s swimming to be done and grass to cut and sometimes it’s just too damn hot to draw. I seem to forget this from year to year. My memory isn’t what it used to be. I’m trying, though. Trying to carve out a little time out of these busy months to make some progress on Carbon. It’s slow going (slower than usual even) but pages are still getting finished. Think I have about 30 pages of Book 4 done. Something like that. Maybe less. Definitely not more. Also, when working through the intricacies of Book 4 I realized I have to go back to Book 1 and make a small change which will make a scene in Book 4 work. So the next printing of Book 1 will contain that change. It’s a minor thing, but will make a big difference in the overall working of the tale. I think of Carbon as a work in progress. I definitely allow for wiggle room within my loose plot framework. Keeps it more fun to work on. Sometimes I get in trouble and have to backtrack and change something. Just the way it is.

Haven’t done too much work on Tin Man Vol.2 at this point. One chapter is done and the rest is plotted out. I also have been working on coloring Vol. 1. I originally wanted Tin Man to be in color, but ended up printing the black and white version so I’d have it for a show. But color is what I had planned from the start so I should probably keep with that plan. Maybe I’ll run the color version online at some point.
