Okay, so, if you’ve been paying attention, you have obviously noticed that I am not running Carbon in those weekly updates anymore. Thank you for noticing. The reason is this: I felt that Carbon, the story that it is and is going to be, does not lend itself very well to the one-page-per-week situation. It is to be read in large chunks, since it is a slow-developing story. And, although it was fun do dabble in doing full-color comics, I have decided to ditch that idea and just go with black & white…at least for now. So, the new plan is to release Carbon as a couple of volumes, both in print and in e-book form. So, I haven’t quit making Carbon. I’m still at it and loving it. I just won’t be running it online. That’s all for now.
CARBON is my latest and most ambitious graphic novel. For the time being, I will be running the story in weekly one-page updates. Every Wednesday will see a new page of the story, right here on the Just Mad Books website. The story takes place in the city-state of Carbon, which finds itself in the midst of political turmoil thanks to a newly elected corrupt governor. He has made it his mission to rid Carbon of all Seers (those born with psychic abilities). The plot of the story revolves around a young girl who’s gone missing & her retired-detective uncle who seeks to find her, while enlisting the help of his old partners two kids (one’s a Seer/one’s a private eye). Mystery, suspense, cool psychic stuff and lots and lots of drama. What more do you need?
I was going to make postcards of this to promote CARBON at the upcoming Wizard World show in Chicago, but it didn’t happen. Still cool, though. Right now I am leaning toward running CARBON online, with weekly updates, and in full color. I plan to launch it soon.
In an attempt to raise some funds to a) keep the Breathers graphic novel in print and b) afford myself some time to work on my new graphic novel, I have decided to sell the original comic pages from Breathers. Pages start at $80 and go up to $150 and include free shipping. So, get out that tattered copy of Breathers and find yourself a nice-lookin’ page you want to own and follow the link below to order.

Back in 2003, while I was working on my series of Happy Town comics, I also cranked out a self-contained Happy Town spin-off graphic novel called “The Waiting Sun.” I guess the best way to describe it is as a surreal love story. It has been out of print for years now, but I thought I’d resurrect it online for anyone who wants to give it a read. It’s kind of a long story, so I’ll be posting it in chunks. The first chunk can be found HERE.
